Got a Stick?
You have found or have been given one of our sticks.
We don’t know how the stick came into your possession or why. But now the stick and its potential of sharing lie with you.
Maybe you will find files on your stick. These files have been passed on to you by the previous holders of the stick. Explore how they have filled the space available to them with ideas. Take your share of the 128mb-space and fill it with data that the world should see. If it’s just a single file or a couple of files is not important. Share what you like! An image, a video, a piece of music, a text, or the address of a website. The only things you should mind are not to delete anything from the existing data and to leave some space for those who will hold the stick after you.
Use the access information engraved on the stick to log on and tell your story: how the stick got into your hands, what data you found on the stick and what you have made of your share of the free space.
Finally it is your turn to pass the stick on, to whoever you want and in any way you like.

For more information, please read the file _README.html on the stick (or _LIESMICH.html for the german version). If you cannot find the files on the stick, you can read them online. Probably someone deleted them. Please do us a favour and put them on the stick again.
_README.html (english)
_LIESMICH.html (deutsch)
ADVICE
-
Before you open any files on the stick, please run them through a virus
scanner. -
We initally circulate the sticks without any data. Consequently we
cannot take any responsibility for the data on the stick. - You, as the holder of the stick, are responsible for the data you share. We do not encourage or support violation of legal or social norms. Please use the stick responsibly!
HELP
I cannot log in! The login information on the stick appears to be wrong.
Please make sure that you’ve entered the password correctly. Due to the engraving process, some characters can easily be mistaken (for example, the letters ‘i’ and ‘l’ look similar). Also, make sure that you typed in the username exactly as it is written on the stick (with leading zeroes, if there are any).
If this doesn’t help, please send us an email describing your problem and what you think the password of the stick is. We will reply to you as soon as we can.
What should I do with the stick?
It really is up to you. We only ask for three things: Don’t delete files that are on the stick, add something to the stick, and pass it on. If you do not want to put any file on the stick, just pass it on. But please don’t throw it away or format it.
Do I have to post to the blog?
We really ask you to do so. But if you don’t feel comfortable at all about it, then just put something on the stick and pass it on. But since we’d really like to know about the history of each stick (and so do the readers of this website), we’d love to hear from you. A single sentence would be enough to make us happy.
Do I have to provide my email address or some other personal information?
No. How much you disclose about yourself or the circumstances under which you’ve got the stick is totally up to you.
Who put the files on the stick?
Not us, that’s for sure. We only provide two files which contain some information about the project. The other files where put on the stick by the previous holders of the stick.
I cannot find any readme file or the file seems to have been tampered with
Since it is not possible to write-protect single files on an USB-Stick, it is possible that someone deleted or modified the informational files we put on it. If your stick does not contain the two files “_README.html” and “_LIESMICH.html”, or you suspect that these files have been modified, please contact us. You can also download the files directly from this site and put them back on the stick:
_README.html (english)
_LIESMICH.html (deutsch)
Is it dangerous to open the files on the stick?
To be honest, maybe. We cannot rule out the possibility that someone knowingly or unknowingly has put a virus-infected file on the stick. Please use a virus-scanner before accessing files on the stick. (Actually, this is common sense with all data you receive from someone. You should always check files with a virus scanner before opening them.)
My virus scanner tells me that a file on the stick is infected.
This is an exception of the “don’t delete files” rule. Please delete the file to protect yourself and the people that will get the stick in the future. It would be great if you could inform us about this by either posting here, or by sending us an email.
What can I put on the stick?
It’s completely up to you. We just ask you to use the stick and the opportunity to share something responsibly.
